This Day Went to the Dogs …and Cats“Tails wagged and swayed with joy at the Pet Adoption Event held mid-fall in Ellington. There were a lot of happy human faces too as 15 cats and nine dogs attracted forever owners among the animal-lovers of all ages who attended the annual event. Cats, kittens, puppies, and adult dogs — all found homes before the day was over…The event also took in much needed supplies: towels, blankets, peanut butter, pet toys, and pet food brought by guests. Over $6,000 was donated to the CT Humane Society from matching Lemonade Stands funds. "Arctic Splash Sends Kids To Camp"..."Several dozen brave 'splashers' took part in the 9th annual Arctic Splash, benefiting the Vernon Parks and Recreation Department's Send-A-Kid-To-Camp program...Superior Energy received the award for most funds ($850) raised by a business...Superior Energy also ran a special raffle - any participant who donated a winter coat for the Cornerstone Foundation was entered into a drawing for several gift cards.
